Default Gaining XP question

How close to the battle do you need to be to gain XP from kills? I never rememver having to be so close to the battle to get XP from a kill. I didnt play a lot of attention in the past to be honest but I am working on another Legendary Survivor char ATM.

Anyone have a idea of the official answer? Do they have to be in your agro bubble?

Thanks in advance.

From my own experience: You need to either (A) make an aggressive action towards the foe, (B) be in range (Dunno what range though, earshot sounds about right) when a foe is killed by a PARTY MEMBER - Not an ally, or (C) have had a foe make an aggressive action towards you.

So, for instance, in pre: If you recruit Ben into your party, and let him kill everything while you sit back and just heal him, you will get no XP.

So, for instance: If you have 3 heroes and you're a monk, if you sit back and let your heroes kill everything while healing them, you SHOULD get XP, as long as you are in range.

So, for instance, in pre: If you recruit Ben into your party, and let him kill stuff while you tank it, you SHOULD get XP.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works. That's what I've noticed, at least.

Sounds like one of those three are required to gain EXP from a kill. However the range still confuses me.

there is no specific range. its an OR statement. it is be in aggro range (the bubble), use a skill on them, OR (key word here) use a skill on an ally fighting them.

Except that it doesn't work that way. I believe that allies should be replaced with party members, because (And I noticed this while making my pre monk) unless I wand'ed the foe, I didn't gain any XP if Ben Wolfson killed it - Even though I was healing/buffing him.

As a smiter casting buffs on my ally (the 600) i get no exp from it. unless im within aggro range even though it is my spells/enchantments that kill the foe.

Maintained enchantments don't count as using a skill on a party member for the purpose of gaining XP. They are cast outside of the battle and not during it.

Also you can't cast a skill on something outside of the aggro bubble. You can attack it with a longbow/flatbow, though.

So, yeah, the best way to gain exp is - be at the aggro range and attack with a longbow ;d

you basically have to participate in the fight in someway, whether it be attacking the monsters directly or buffing allies while they are engaged in direct combat themselves. once you have engaged with the enemy in someway, you do not have to be very close to the battle to gain the exp. although if u run out of targeting range, that might prevent exp gain :P
